This senior technical role combined strategic ownership with hands-on work across metering hardware, networking, protocols and data acquisition.
Its purpose was to design reliable networks and ensure accurate, secure and compliant field data from electricity, water and gas infrastructure.
- Own the telemetry and sensor data-acquisition strategy
- Select metering hardware and physical equipment for customer needs
- Plan deployments, field installation and commissioning
- Design network monitoring, health checks and alerting
- Protect uptime, performance, data quality and security
- Integrate sensor and meter data with the software platform
- A practical engineer comfortable configuring hardware and building software
- Knowledge of meters, sensors, networking and protocols such as Modbus, LoRaWAN and wireless M-Bus
- Experience designing robust networks and selecting appropriate technology
- Familiarity with electricity, water or gas metering data
- Curiosity about new devices and communications technologies
- A collaborative, hands-on approach with customers and internal teams
- Significant influence within a small team
